The Story of Green River

The Story of Green River is about a beaver called Silken who isn’t as strong as the others. Her teeth are too weak for carrying trees and her tail isn’t as strong. All these things make her feel that she is not part of the beavers. However, Silken is an amazing swimmer; way better than the others.

On the other hand Sedge is an otter who is next in line to be leader of the romp. The romp is worried about the water; it is rising very quickly, and the river spirit won’t listen to them.

One day Silken sees a group of otters and she realises that she is an otter! Meanwhile, Sedge remembers that he has a forgotten sister, Elderberry, who was carried away in the last flood. Soon they find each other and Sedge is delighted to find that his sister is still alive.

This book is very adventurous and tells the story of a lovely siblinghood. I recommed this for readers who have read and enjoyed Bramley Hedge by Jill Barklem.
